The bissel grade is a vast area of rough, rugged land where I spend a lot of time hunting with our dogs.
It is our goal to produce dogs equally tough and rugged with inherent natural abilities to point and retrieve game, and be great companions at home. Our dogs get hunted hard in the north-woods of Wisconsin on ruffed grouse, woodcock and waterfowl…usually all in the same day. There are few things better than watching your dog retrieve a dozen geese in the morning and shooting grouse over their points in the afternoon. Our dogs also get to prove themselves a few times per year on upland game and waterfowl out west.
While producing hunting companions is the number one priority at Bissel Grade Gun Dogs, our dogs are also evaluated through rigorous training and testing during the “off season”. We specifically train and test through NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association) and believe this produces a great versatile gun dog. It gives us the opportunity to further evaluate the qualities of each dog against the high standard set by the NAVHDA organization.

We have and will continue to go through as many dogs as it takes to find only exceptional dogs for our breeding program. We look to match our proven dogs with the best proven dogs from around the country.
